Define the workflow before the connector
Start with a precise question: pass website enquiries, receive orders, publish stock or display customer tracking? A bounded workflow makes it possible to assess value and constraints before choosing a technical solution.
Check access conditions
The Odoo version, hosting and subscription affect available interfaces. Verify API access conditions in the documentation for your offer. A connector does not bypass contract or permission restrictions.
Choose the authoritative source
List customers, products, prices, inventory and orders. Assign an authoritative system and exchange direction for each object. Define identifiers, required fields, update rules and duplicate cases.
Prepare for ordinary failures
Connections can be interrupted and fields rejected. Plan useful logs, alerts, recovery without duplicating operations and a responsible owner. Decide what can wait and what blocks work.
Test a limited scope
Use a suitable environment and test records. Check creation, updates, cancellation, insufficient permissions and invalid responses. Have the people using the process validate the results, not only the technical team.
Document operation
Document accounts, permissions, fields, frequency, failures and recovery without exposing secrets. Include monitoring and future changes when either system evolves.
